Battle of Four - North Foreland - Medway Bat tle of Lowestoft took place on June 13, 1665 during the Second An glo-Dutch War. To this day, is considered the greatest defeat suf fered at sea in the history of the Netherlands. The Dutch fleet o f more than 100 ships commanded by Lieutenant-Admiral (called a crowd of Lieutenant-Admiral) obdam attacked the English fleet, just as powerful, led by the Duke of York. It happened 40 miles east of the port of Lowestoft in Suffolk.
